Derved slipper man redigerings-konflikter.

Ny mobil navigering

Kudos Ideas i App-katalogen

Previews of new features: Control who sees new UI

IBM Connections Customizer enables customers to modify the Connections UI by applying custom client-side JavaScript and CSS at runtime. In order to maintain such customizations, a new UI Preview feature available through the Application Registry enables administrators to control the rollout of new UI feature sets.

Now administrators can create a simple app that contains a list of one or more users who are allowed to preview the new UI feature set, while all other users continue to experience the existing UI. Once satisfied that all customization work is as expected, the administrator discontinues preview mode and the new feature set becomes activated for all users.

UI Preview gives organizations the opportunity to initially restrict new UI feature sets to a reduced user audience for testing and validation of any customizations that are in place. The restricted scope can be broadened or lifted completely at any time. The preview period lasts for the duration of a tune-up window on IBM Connections Cloud or for a given CR release on-premises. It applies exclusively to the new UI feature set rolled out in that particular window.

OAuth token-based authentication for Connections Mobile

Connections administrators now have the ability to enable token based authentication for their Connections Mobile for iOS and Android users. This allows the Connections mobile app to use secure tokens for authentication instead of a user ID and password. To enable token based authentication, have your Connections Cloud company administrator log in to the administration console and select Connections Mobile App Management. Then on the Configuration Tab, select the option called Use token based authentication.

Advantages of using token-based authentication in Connections Mobile include:

  • Web-based login forms. Since the user authentication itself now occurs within a web view, the login form is free to use more complex forms that incorporate JavaScript or other active scripting. Depending on the capabilities of the authorization server and identity components, it may also be possible to provide customization to these forms that is now visible to mobile users. Both web and mobile users should now be able to share similar login experiences. This will make supporting federation with companies much easier for the mobile application as it will now use the exact same web form for authentication used by any web based applications.
  • Extended login time for mobile apps. Because the mobile application uses multiple tokens for authentication, it is able to authenticate users every few hours without asking them for their credentials again.
  • User ID and password are never stored on the device. When using OAuth, the Connections Mobile application is never aware of any mobile user credentials such as a login ID or password. These credentials are not needed locally any longer in the mobile app, so they are no longer stored in encrypted storage. This improves the overall security posture of the mobile application.
